Coaching & Editorial Services for Writers

I bring fourteen years of experience to the work I do with writers like you.

I began my publishing career at Seal Press, a feminist nonfiction press headquartered in Berkeley, CA, in 2009. First an editorial intern at Seal, then a marketing associate for both Seal and Avalon Travel (both imprints of Hachette, and housed in the same space), I wore many hats in my years there—honing my editorial skills, as well as learning the ins and outs of the marketing side of the publishing process—before ultimately deciding to go freelance in 2012 and devote myself full time to editing.

In my fourteen years in publishing, I have been a proofreader, copyeditor, developmental editor, ghostwriter, and writing coach. While I still exact great satisfaction from a well-placed comma, today I specialize primarily in developmental editing, assessments, and coaching. Memoir and fiction are my genres of focus, and I am particularly skilled at cutting down word count (humanely, of course), helping authors master “show, don’t tell,” and hammering out structure. Many of the books I’ve worked on have won awards, and some have been New York Times and USA Today bestsellers.

Publishing has evolved greatly in the last decade-plus. There are many paths to publishing, and while the traditional path is the best choice for some authors, it is not the only choice. In addition to having worked in the traditional publishing space, I’m proud to have worked closely with She Writes Press—which exclusively publishes female, nonbinary, and trans authors and in 2019 was the first hybrid publisher to be named Indie Publisher of the Year by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group—since its inception in 2012. (If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of hybrid publishing, I’d be happy to talk to you about it.)

I look forward to helping you take the next step forward along your writing and/or publishing path.
